Revolutionizing the Norm

In a world undergoing profound political, social, and economic shifts, authentic creatives are being called to rise. Art has always been a powerful form of protest, a timeless medium for expression, resistance, and truth-telling. Now more than ever, we must dig deep, create with passion, and honor the knowledge behind our craft. Whether through dance, music, fashion, or film, staying committed to our artistry isn’t just a personal journey—it’s a vital act of preserving culture, inspiring change, and shaping the future for ourselves, our communities, and the generations to come.

The Art of Healing: Navigating Mental health as performing artist

As a young Black woman and a performing artist, my journey has been filled with both brilliance and battles—one of the biggest being my diagnosis with depression. The world often sees the glamour, the confidence, the show-stopping moments, but behind the curtain, artists carry an emotional weight that demands a different level of care, awareness, and healing.

Performing isn’t just a craft—it’s an extension of the soul. And when your soul is tired, how do you keep creating? I’ve had to learn that taking care of my mental health is just as essential as perfecting my art. Through therapy, self-discovery, and a deeper connection to my purpose, I’ve found ways to balance the passion and the pressure, proving that true artistry isn’t just about performance—it’s about preservation.

This article is a testament to the resilience of artists like me, like us—those who dare to feel deeply, create boldly, and heal openly.
